The Blended Stone Pad (Available through our company)
A Blended "Modified" Stone Pad offers a very happy medium between the Economical blocking and the Framed in stone pad option.
When constructing a Blended Stone Pad we first make the pad site typically two foot wider and two foot longer to allow area for the "BLEND" of the pad. Next, we find the "Gospel" or the Highest point of elevation of the structure site. Then we find the "Lie" which is the opposite of the "Gospel" or the lowest point of the structure site, we bring the "Lie" to the "Gospel", this way no excavation is needed, just adding material (Modified stone or Asphalt Millings) its just that Millings are getting harder to find due to being recycled for road construction. The idea is to use a material that will pack tightly to promote minimal settling, Shale is also a good option when and if available.
Most everyone you converse with (besides me) will tell you that you must use clean 2B stone to promote water drainage... This is folly, as my structures roof system is designed to divert rain water away from the structure and modified stone does allow water drainage to a degree. Also, clean stone does not pack tightly therfore the structure is constantly in a state of settling, and my delivery truck and trailer will sink into the pad and possibly get stuck.
A Firm foundation is always a better option.
